Dahlia ‘Traute’

Dahlia Traute

Dahlia ‘Traute’ in the dahlia garden designed for IGA Berlin 2017 (displayed by Gärtnerei Wagschal, Reinbek)

The orange dahlia cultivarTraute’ is a waterlily dahlia (“Seerosen-Dahlie” in German)—group 4 in the group system of the International Dahlia Register (RHS supplement). In contrast to ball dahlias (group 6) such as Dahlia ‘Red Fox’ with a more sphere-like bloom, waterlily dahlias have a flower depth less than half the diameter of the bloom. The picture of this dahlia—similar in color to Dahlia ‘IGA Rostock’—was taken in the Dahliengarten (Dahlia Garden) designed for the IGA Berlin 2017 exhibit in Germany.
