Open ridge above Marlette Lake: Marlette Peak

Marlette Peak

Marlette Peak backdropping Marlette Lake and Rocky Point

Marlette Peak (elev. 8780 ft) is located south of Incline Village, Nevada. Its elevation of 8743 ft. (2665 m.) is less than that of Snow Valley Peak (9196 ft, 2803 m.) 2.5 miles to the south and Herlan Peak (8546 ft., 2605 m.) 1.3 miles to the north. The Tahoe Rim Trail intersects the eastside slope of Marlette Peak. Thanks to the 1.5-mile-long South Marlette Peak Trail all peak sides can easily be accessed—while the south-west corner of the loop is offering magnificient views of both Marlette Lake and Lake Tahoe.

My favorite hike up to the Marlette Peak loop is from Spooner Lake to the Marlette Peak Campground (about 6.5 miles one way). On the way, you will pass three historic cabin sites: Spencer's Cabin, Woodcutter's Cabin and Rocky Point Cabin.
