Meeks Creek Falls

Meeks Creek Falls

White water tumbling, splashing and spraying downcreek between naturally sculptured rocks

The Meeks Creek Waterfalls cannot be overheard while hiking the start-out section of the Tahoe-Yosemite Trail (TYT) in the Meeks Creek canyon. The TYT—connecting Meeks Bay with Tuolumne Meadows at Yosemite—ascends from its trailhead near the Meeks Bay Campground (eleven miles south of Tahoe City) to Lake Genevieve and Crag Lake (the first two Tallant Lakes) and continues farther into the Desolation Wilderness. The waterfalls are only about three miles away from Meeks Bay; a little more than half the distance to Lake Genevieve. On your uphill hike, it takes a short side-trip to the left to stand in front of the cooling spray of cascading Meeks Creek. Stay safe between the slippery rocks!
