Fed by Glen Alpine Creek: Lily Lake

Lily Lake

Whether lake or pond: a beautiful body of water next to the Glen Alpine Trailhead

Lily Lake is fed by water that flows from Susie Lake and Jabu Lake in the Desolation Wilderness downstream Grass Lake. Emerging from Grass Lake, Glen Alpine Creek flows over bedrock to flatter terrain, within which Lily Lake is situated. In addition to seasonal fluctuations, the water level of Lily Lake depends on dam-building activities of beavers living in this area. Glen Alpine Creek continues from Lily Lake to Fallen Leaf Lake.

The trailhead next to Lily Lake is the gateway for visitors of the Glen Alpine Springs Historical Site. Also, day-hikers and backpackers start out from Lily Lake to ascend via Glen Alpine Trail to Susie Lake, Half Moon Lake, Gilmore Lake, Mt. Tallac, Dick's Pass & Lake and many other scenic places in the Desolation Wilderness. A more challenging, unmaintained trail leads from a hidden trailhead next to the narrow road between the small fire station and Lily Lake (past the Glen Alpine Falls dirt parking lots) to Triangle Lake.
